The FDA says non-invasive body contouring does not treat obesity or produce weight loss. Some devices target small amounts of fat or the appearance of cellulite in particular areas.
Separate the procedures
Liposuction removes fat surgically. A tummy tuck removes excess skin and may address other abdominal concerns. These differ from non-invasive device treatments and require individual assessment.
Ask about the downside
Ask the treating professional about complications, contraindications, recovery, the number of sessions and how they manage an unsatisfactory result. Fat-freezing procedures can have complications, including an increase in fat tissue in the treated area.
