Read beyond the front label
NIH’s Office of Dietary Supplements reports limited evidence for many weight-loss supplements. Safety, interactions and effectiveness vary by ingredient and product.
Build a useful shortlist
Record each ingredient, the listed amount, serving size, recurring price and the claim being made. Ask whether research tested this finished product or just a different formulation.
Check the context
Discuss supplements with a clinician or pharmacist, particularly if you take medication or are considering a procedure. “Natural” is not a substitute for an interaction check.
Make the brand answer
Where is the evidence? Who funded it? What did it measure? Are quality-testing details available? If those questions get a vague answer, keep your money while you investigate.
